BREATHE

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”

The breath is the ultimate life partner. . . it is where body, mind & spirit meet.

Deep diaphragmatic breathing is a tool used to “relax on purpose”.  Many of us today live in a state of near constant anxiety, stress and tension.  The body is operating under the sympathetic nervous response, also known as “fight, flight or freeze”, whereby it believes, real or imagined, that it is in danger and functions in a state of high alert.  While this reaction is entirely appropriate at times, the chronic states that we experience in our daily lives are problematic to long-term health.

The breath is one of the keys to initiating the parasympathetic nervous response… a state called “rest & digest”.  Only while in the parasympathetic mode can you initiate the long-term health systems of the body – digestion, elimination, repair & growth, reproduction and immunity!

It only takes about 20 minutes for the body to enter the relaxation response using conscious relaxation techniques such as yogic breathing, meditation and creative visualization.  With my background in therapeutic and restorative yoga, I can easily tailor a session to meet your needs on any given day. By meeting you where you are, together we can create space that enables you to quiet the mind and come into your body.
